Our home base is in Denmark, Maine, a northern New England hamlet and four-season destination in the heart of the lakes and mountains of Western Maine.  If you are looking for a relaxing retreat, this is the place to come, accessible, yet off the beaten path enough to find deep quiet surrounded by a pristine natural setting. We  rest in lofty view of the White Mountains, on 33 acres on the side of Pleasant Mountain, pictured above, located an hour Portland, Freeport and Lewiston, Maine.

The retreat land offers long and expansive views west to the nearby White Mountains. Maine is the northern part of the Appalachian Mountain Chain where the Wabanaki peoples roamed, on the Land of the Dawn.  Receiving the first light of the new day, the land reaches northeast towards the sunrise over the Atlantic.

The Greater Bridgton Lakes Region offers a high quality of life, with endless possibilities as a recreational haven. The air is clean, the water pure, the woods inspiring, the sights breathtaking and the night sky bright with millions of stars.

Come camp in our private forest campground, stay in our solar-powered cabin, treat yourself to a much needed break!

Easy access~
You can take a plane, train or bus to Portland, Maine and rent car.  Or you can fly into Boston, MA or Manchester, NH and rent a car.  If renting a car is not an attractive option for you, you can take a combination of bus, cab and NTN shuttle service to get to here.

NTN shuttle fees:
Roundtrip to/from Portland, ME: $150
Roundtrip to/from Conway, NH:    $40

Travel tips: The best flight deals tend to be into Manchester and Boston.  On the other hand, flying into Portland is much more convenient.  If you find that flying into Portland is too expensive, the following information may be useful in helping you to navigate the Boston/Manchester options.

Flying into Boston:  If you are trying to minimize your travel costs, consider flying into Boston (Logan Airport) and taking a Concord Trailways bus to Portland.  In my experience, Concord Trailways is an excellent company that is extremely reliable with clean buses and courteous drivers, and they even show a movie!  (no, we don't get any sales commissions...).  These buses run hourly most of the day and are very convenient to pick up.  The roundtrip cost of this bus is $34.00.  To rent a car in Portland from the bus station, simply get a cab to the Portland Jetport (about 3 miles away) where you will find the best deals in car rentals.

If you are quite comfortable with maps and city driving, renting a car from Logan Airport is probably an affordable option.   However, Boston drivers and roads are notoriously "challenging".

A third option is to take a Concord Trailways bus from Logan Airport to Conway, New Hampshire, which is 25 minutes from here.  We are happy to pick you up from Conway.  This is great option if the bus schedule to and from Logan Airport coincide with your flight travel times.  There is a morning and afternoon bus between Conway and Logan Airport.  Check the schedule to see if this will work for you.

Total travel time to Denmark from Boston is approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

Flying into Manchester, NH: Depending on where you are flying from, Manchester may be the most affordable flight option.   Again, if you are quite comfortable with a map, renting a car is good option.  Concord Trailways also offers bus service from Manchester to Conway, NH.  There are only 2 daily buses (morning and afternoon) that run to and from Manchester, NH to Conway, NH.  In addition, you will need to take a cab from the Manchester airport to the bus terminal.  We are happy to pick you up from Conway if the travel times work for you.

Driving from Manchester to Denmark is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

Our holistic canoe retreats take place off the beaten path, in the pristine backcountry locations of Maine. In April, we also offer an annual Southwest paddling trip down the Green River in Moab, Utah.  We bring meditation and mindfulness practices to all of our wanderings while paddling and day hiking.

All of our canoe retreats involve camping along the shores of wonderful waterways. All Maine canoe camping sites offer a privy, fire ring and picnic tables for your comfort. We provide all of the paddling and camping gear as well as organic, home-cooked meals.

We also host a variety of Women's Wellness Weekend Retreats in our rustic retreat space built by an amazing group of volunteers.
